E-flite 4-Site 3D FF RC Airplane Introduction
In the early 2000s, "flat foamy" models were extremely popular because they could be scratch-built from foam sheets you could buy in many stores. Today, most foam models are fully molded sport and scale aircraft – and few can match the unique capabilities and performance of flat foam models, especially those designed and built for aerobatic plus 3D flying! The E-flite® 4-Site 3D FF (Flat Foamy) 800mm is based on the original F3P and UMX models and is a biplane alternative to the popular Eratix 3D FF that's taken the market by storm. It's perfect for experienced pilots who already build and fly flat foam models, intermediate pilots who are interested in them but don't want to undertake a complicated build, and less experienced pilots who have always wanted to try but were intimidated by the extra effort and skills required to buy, build and fly such a model. The 4-Site 3D FF is the easiest to fly, most convenient, and best value in a biplane flat foamy model yet!
E-flite 4-Site 3D FF RC Airplane Overview
The E-flite® 4-Site 3D FF (Flat Foamy) 800mm offers the aggressive aerobatic plus smooth sport and slow-flying performance of similar class models – without all the hassles of buying components for and building one! It bolts and snaps together so it can be ready to fly in less time than it takes to charge a battery compared to the glue, tape, and many hours it usually takes to assemble other "flat foamy" aircraft. It's a biplane alternative to the best-selling Eratix 3D FF with a shorter wingspan but more wing area for lower wing loading overall. Its lightweight yet extremely durable EPP airframe is mostly factory-assembled and includes three durable and precise metal-geared servos on all the control surfaces. The factory-installed power system features a 3S-compatible brushless motor matched to a Spektrum Avian Smart ESC compatible with Smart and non-Smart 850–1000mAh batteries. The BNF Basic version is also equipped with an AR630+ receiver to deliver real-time telemetry data, enhanced AS3X+, and optional-use SAFE Select technologies. It's small enough and light enough to be flown indoors in gymnasiums and other similar spaces or outdoors in yards, parks, and sports fields, making it a versatile addition to the hangar for a wide range of pilots!
Skill Level 2 – Some Experience Required
Skill Level 2 aircraft, like this one, are suitable for RC pilots with the experience and skills to assemble, set up, and fly similar class models. Although the 4-Site 3D FF is easier to assemble and fly than other flat foamy models, it's not a suitable first-ever RC aircraft for new pilots or a first-ever aerobatic/3D model for low-time RC pilots. You should have the experience and skills necessary to successfully fly aerobatic models like the E-flite UMX Ultrix, UMX Timber X, T-28 Trojan 1.1m, Sportix 1.1m, Timber X 1.2m, or other similar class models before attempting to fly the 4-Site 3D FF BNF Basic version.
Bind-N-Fly Completion Level Advantage
This BNF Basic version has exclusive Spektrum AS3X+ and SAFE Select technologies. Enhanced AS3X+ technology works behind the scenes to smooth out the effects of wind and turbulence and deliver an even more locked-in feel than standard AS3X, which makes it seem like you're flying a much larger airplane. Optional-use SAFE Select offers pitch and bank angle limits and automatic self-leveling that can be turned on and off at the flip of a switch! If you don't want to enable the SAFE Select features, simply bind the receiver normally, and only AS3X+ will be active. The receiver is also loaded with a Smart Transmitter Model File that allows you to import all the settings for NX and iX series transmitters during the binding process to be ready to fly in less time than ever!
Smart Technology
The 4-Site 3D FF is equipped with an exclusive Spektrum Avian Smart Lite ESC that can provide a variety of real-time power system-related telemetry data including motor RPM, current, overall battery voltage, and more – with Smart and non-Smart batteries – via compatible receivers (including the AR630+) and Spektrum AirWare equipped transmitters (including the DX6e and DX8e, DX6 G2/3 and DX8 G2, the DX9, NX6 to 20, iX12 to 20 and others) while you fly.
Uniquely Capable
Like other flat foamy models, the 4-Site 3D FF is capable of slow cruising, smooth sport flying, basic aerobatics, and even aggressive 3D flying—all in the same flight! It offers a truly “mild to wild” flight experience that intermediate to experienced pilots will appreciate, whether indoors in gymnasiums or outdoors in yards, parks, sports fields, and beyond.
High Performance
The factory-installed brushless power system features a specially tuned Spektrum outrunner motor. This power system delivers plenty of thrust for unlimited vertical and 3D performance with 3S 850–1000mAh batteries!
Easy Assembly
Unlike other flat foamy models that are only available as kits without power and control components, the 4-Site 3D FF arrives mostly factory-assembled with the power system, servos, and receiver (BNF Basic version only) installed. All you need to do is finish some quick and easy final bolt/snap-together assembly—without the use of glue, tape, or special tools—and you'll be ready to fly in less time than it takes to charge a battery!
Durable Design
Three factory-installed digital servos with metal gears on all the control surfaces, plus construction with carbon fiber and composite-reinforced, high-density EPP, deliver a lightweight yet stiff and durable airframe. In the unfortunate event you damage any airframe parts or components and can't repair them, a full line of replacement/spare parts is readily available.
Already own a Spektrum™ transmitter? Bind-N-Fly (BNF) aircraft make getting into the air quickly and with the best control experience possible easier than ever. They come out of the box with the power system, servos and a Spektrum 2.4GHz receiver installed so all you need to do is bind the receiver to a compatible transmitter, finish any final assembly, and fly!
This Bind-N-Fly Basic model is equipped with a Spektrum 2.4GHz DSMX® receiver featuring AS3X+ (Artificial Stabilization–3-aXis+) technology that works behind the scenes to smooth out the effects of wind and turbulence. The result is a heightened sense of stability and precision that makes you feel like you're flying a much larger, expertly tuned aircraft.
If this is your first model of its type, or you want an extra margin of safety while familiarizing yourself with the airplane, you can enable the optional-use SAFE® Select flight envelope protection technology built into the receiver. No programming is required. Simply change up the binding sequence as directed in the manual.
With SAFE Select enabled, you get:
Pitch and Bank Angle Limits
Automatic Self-Leveling
Easy Switch Assignment—No Complex Programming Required
If you don't want to enable the SAFE Select features, just bind the receiver normally and it will function like a standard AS3X+ receiver.
