The ignition harness assembly on an aircraft keeps impurities from getting into, forming and accumulating on the shielded distribution systems of an airplane. They are built to handle demanding conditions and to produce maximum spark energy while maintaining optimized electromagnetic interference protection.
Over time, the parts of an ignition harness, such as the spark plugs and wires, start to wear out and need replacing. Chief Aircraft Inc. has the parts you need to keep your engine running.
When replacing the ignition harness, spark plugs or other associated parts, you need to know a bit about the engine. Having certain details will help you choose the correct parts.
First, you need to know the engine manufacturer and model.
Next, you need to know the type of magneto that's installed on the plane and the spark plug size. Aircraft spark plugs are often labeled as either big barrel or small barrel or 3/4" or 5/8."
Finally, you need to determine if the ignition harness has a straight lead, which is the standard, or an elbow lead, which is less common.
