Modern aircraft engines are smooth-flowing machines that depend on various parts and components to work properly. When any of the parts of an engine are out of place or damaged, the aircraft may not function properly and won't be safe to operate. Chief Aircraft Inc. has several engine parts, including baffle motors and aircraft engine fairings, to keep your plane operational.
An engine baffle works to create a high-pressure system above the cylinders of an engine and a low-pressure system beneath the cylinders. Baffle seals rest on top of the aluminum baffles, helping to control the flow of air and keeping the engine cool.
Over time, baffle seals can lose their flexibility, becoming stiff and brittle. The brittle seals are prone to breakage, preventing them from doing their job. The best time to replace baffle seals is at the first sign of brittleness or wear. As a general rule, you may expect to replace the baffle seals every five years or so.
You should also consider replacing engine baffles, which are made from aluminum, when they start to develop signs of wear. Checking the baffles and seals should be part of every pre-flight inspection.
If it's time to replace your baffle seals or another component of your plane's engine, we can help. Talk to us today, and we'll help you choose the right replacement parts for your aircraft engine.
